Health and Mental Health
Our health and mental health research projects focus on issues that affect individuals but have implications for the public at large, such as HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, depression, violence and sexual identity. We work with a variety of populations, including men, women, children, youth, the elderly, LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning) individuals, low-income, minority and high-risk populations.

Education
ICR’s education research is focused on working with educational institutions to transform education and to promote healthy social environments. We work in collaboration with schools, community-based organizations, health service providers, research agencies, and national or international non-governmental organizations to introduce methods designed to improve student academic, social and psychological outcomes, and to test intervention programs around HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, violence and other issues confronting youth and students.

Arts and Culture
Our Cultural Conservation and Development projects and programs work with individual urban artists, cultural conservation organizations, and cultural/historical associations to support access to artistic resources and sustain heritage art forms and traditions in communities in Connecticut and beyond.

International
ICR is expanding its programming to include projects with partners outside the U.S. Our International projects are currently focused on issues such as HIV/AIDS risk and prevention, school health and mental health, and substance abuse issues. Our collaborations include non-governmental research organizations, university-based researchers and service providers in India, Canada, Sri Lanka and China. We also present at meetings and conferences around the world, such as the World AIDS Congress in Barcelona, Spain and the International Microbicides 2002 conference in Antwerp Belgium.
