Celebrating Southeast Asian Arts: Gallery Photos

January 6, 2007, from 2 to 5 pm, at the Jean J. Schensul Community Gallery, at The Institute for Community Research, 2 Hartford Square West Suite 100, 146 Wyllys St, Hartford, CT.

Hosted by ICR’s Connecticut Cultural Heritage Arts Program (CHAP), the event celebrating Southeast Asian culture featured performances by Connecticut Southeast Asian artists, including master Cambodian court dancer and Khmer Rouge survivor Somaly Hay, the Lao Narthasinh dancers, dancers from the Hmong community, and Laotian musician Boualy Rathsombath. Homng women demonstrated their unique embroidery and costume styles. Attendees enjoyed food, music, dance, and traditional stories from Laotian, Hmong, and Cambodian artists.
