Jeffrey Greene, an Arts Instructor in the Prison Arts Program, and Bob Garabedian, a released artist/inmate, led a gallery talk of the exhibit "New Work from Connecticut Prisons."

Dance

Judy Dworin and Kathy Borteck Gersten of the Judy Dworin Performance Ensemble, and Leslie Bird of a cappella gospel group Women of the Cross, are currently conducting artists' residencies at York Correctional Institution. They shared a collaborative performance piece on perceptions of time as experienced in prison, which they are developing with female inmates at York. Literature

Barbara Parsons, a former inmate at York and recipient of the PEN Award, is a contributor to the book Couldn't Keep it to Myself: Stories of Our Imprisoned Sisters, written with Wally Lamb. Barbara read a poem as well as the text for the York performance selection. Joe Lea, the school librarian at York Correctional Institution, discussed the role of the arts and education in rehabilitation.
