Participatory Action Research Training & Evaluation
Participatory Action Research Training and Evaluation programs use action research training as a tool for personal, group and community development and change. Projects work with youth in our Youth Action Research Institute and with adult residents through the Resident Engagement project. Regardless of the population these programs promote the use of community-led action research for risk prevention, community development, family strengthening and social change.
Educational Training Materials
ICR researchers write articles in peer-reviewed journals and other publications.  We have also developed Participatory Action Research curricula for girls, through the Urban Women Against Substance Abuse (UWASA) research and development project, and for youth, through the Youth Action Research Institute (formerly the National Teen Action Research Center).  The Ethnographer's Toolkit is a step-by-step guide to designing and conducting research that seeks to understand human beliefs and behaviors from the point of view of the participants themselves.

AIDS Education
ICR's AIDS Education projects test the effectiveness of innovative, school-based, culturally-appropriate HIV/AIDS education and prevention models. Projects partner with schools and other researchers throughout Connecticut.
Drug and AIDS Prevention
ICR works with school and after-school programs to develop, implement, and test innovative programs in Drug and HIV/AIDS prevention among young people throughout Connecticut. ICR staff partners with school districts and community-based agencies in the development and testing of education curricula among diverse ethnic populations.
