Bonnie K. Nastasi, Ph.D.

Bonnie K. Nastasi, PhD (Kent State University, 1986) is Associate Director of Interventions at the Institute for Community Research, and former Director and Associate Professor of School Psychology at University at Albany, NY. She has conducted applied research on mental health and health risk (including substance abuse and sexual risk) among school-age and adult populations in the U.S. and Asia. Her interests include mental health promotion, health risk prevention, use of qualitative research methods in psychology, and promoting school psychology internationally. She co-authored (with Denise M. DeZolt) a book, entitled School Interventions for Children of Alcoholics (Guilford Press, 1994). Her new book, School-Based Mental Health Programs: Creating Comprehensive and Culturally Specific Mental Health Programs (co-authors, Rachel Bernstein Moore and Kristen Varjas), is scheduled for publication by the American Psychological Association in late 2003. Dr. Nastasi has served as Associate Editor on School Psychology Review and School Psychology Quarterly, and as editorial board member on several other journals in psychology and education (e.g., Journal of Educational and Psychological Consultation, Journal of School Psychology, Journal of Educational Psychology, Journal of Applied School Psychology).
